The Rolling Stones in Washington, DC RFK Stadium July 4, 1972
I grew up at the end of 1960, a huge Rolling Stones fan. the daughter of my godmother ago (my godsister?) was U.S. president of the Rolling Stones Fan Club in 1966. I had all their records and wanted to see them perform live.
So imagine my joy when, in the spring of 1972 tickets were available for fourth of July concert at RFK Stadium. They sold quickly, but I have a few guests. Time passed very slowly for me is that between day andthe day of the concert.
We all piled into my friend and the tip VW. It 'was festival seating, so arrive early enough to have decent seats wanted. Fortunately we arrived at 1:30 clock and got perfect seats (for a baseball game - in the front row behind the third base shelter) and was placed as the second phase of excellent basis for the set-show night.
So we were five hours before Stevie Wonder was to kill us to speak as the opening act. Thepungent odor of whacky tobaccy wine blew through the air and cheap bottles were sent around. It 'was a wonderful atmosphere and all went smoothly along until we started to feel a strong disturbance coming from behind us. There was shouting and singing, and came from outside the main gate. Apparently, some children, the safety of the crew and the entrance to rush scene Crash!
Well, everything was a little 'fun, until someone shouted' shootTear gas! "What blows us all giggling right until the wind changed direction and started the gas stage. We stopped giggling at this point and tried to keep breathing. This has worked for some time before we actually need to breathe, and was unpleasant to say the least. Our eyes were burning and we were all suffering.
Finally, the police warning and stayed with tear gas. The air cleared and the first act on stage. Stevie Wonder was in order. Almost nonetook care of him (the shame), but his thing for about half an hour and then came out of the stadium much to the appreciation of most of the crowd. So life is an act of initiation.
Then another 45 minutes passed and finally the Stones on stage. If you've ever seen the movie "Ladies and Gentlemen the Rolling Stones," and was the same tour. Probably their best tour ever. They were supported his new album "Exile on Main Street." Many goodSongs about what more they have all their successes at the time (the same Everyone wants to hear hits today). Mick made a historic opportunity (he graduated in economics and history, after all at the London School of Economics) and congratulated us all for our independence.
I have in years, four stones in concert, and each produced an environment where the knife was so thick you could cut with. I do not know what it is about the band, but two largeThings each time. Create a fantastic atmosphere, and like I said, referring to the quantity, as if they were equal. Absolutely no trace of "hey, I'm a rock star, thanks for your man bread and what we want to play all or play, whatever." It 'scary, but you really believe, as are your friends next door and they just hang with you for 2 hours.
Now they were playing for just over two hours and three encores, and then it was time to return to stumbleCar and try to find our way home. All in all, had the best experience of 20 years was then that does not include Robert Redford and the Mormon Taburnacle Choir. Oh, come on, use your imagination.
