Backstage Passes

Backstage Passes are passes that are designed to grant access to events such as concerts, festivals, plays, performances, operas, fashion shows, conferences, sports events and any type of show.

Usually laminated, they should be worn around your neck and, beside the type of access granted, they sometime feature personalized information such as name, title, organization as well as a picture. To cut costs, some venues prefer to use wristbands as back stage passes; in that case that's the color of the wristband that will determine the type of access granted.

A backstage pass has two purposes: allowing organizers and performers to prepare and rehearse for the event and give some guests a privileged access to the event as well as to the parties that usually follow the performances.

Backstage passes can be divided in 3 categories:

- The all access pass grants entrance to the entire event, from the rehearsal to the performance and the after-parties. It is usually reserved to the performers as well as the organizers.

- The crew pass is distributed to the crew that is responsible for setting up the stage, preparing the venue as well as to outside companies delivering some material for the event.

- The VIP provides limited entrance to the event, mostly focusing on the performance and the after-party. It is usually delivered to guests of the performers as well as to fans and contest winners.

While used for any type of cultural events, backstage passes are mostly associated with rock concerts, festivals and modern music in general. Also considered memorabilia and prized by collectors, old concert backstage passes can become very valuable pieces, most particularly when relating to mythic rock bands from the 70's,

Concert backstage passes are obviously also highly coveted by die-hard fans who wish to meet their idols and by fans who want to have access to shows that are already sold out.
Since backstage passes are free and reserved to insiders, they cannot be bought but there is fortunately an easy method that allow fans to make their dream comes true and get backstage passes.
